Typical client projects (all are multi-disciplinary)

  • Startup company providing medical device transducer for ultrasonic nebulizer application
  • Established small corporation providing ultrasonic cell processing system
  • Facilitate technology knowledge transfer with IP purchased from a partner to client company

  • Guiding teams supporting legacy transducers
  • Dealing with field failures and production failures
  • Addressing performance repeatability issues
  • Helping clients to identify and work with new ceramic vendors

Need results RIGHT AWAY?

Here are some examples of "Ultra" fast client results

Problem:

Fortune 500 company was replacing the piezo crystal in a high volume legacy product. They had a lot of trouble in making correlations in their experiments and explaining failures.

Solution:

This client had a unique need in that a very in-depth crystal analysis needed to be completed. I guided the client through high-power transducer and crystal analysis methods. We spent significant amount of time discussing how different assembly steps change the electrical response of the ceramic, and how that is related to device performance and assembly quality.

Problem:

Medical device company's ultrasonic transducer suffered from a huge amount of performance variabiliyt

Solution:

I utilized both experimental measurements and finite-element analysis to point out the source of variabilities. I also explained the methods of simulations, and it was then taken up by the company's internal team.

Problem:

Startup company was completely confused on how to create specifications for their crystals and what measurement methods and calculations applied.

Solution:

I utilized my in-depth knowledge of ceramic characterization to guide them through differences between transducer, crystal resonator, and crystal ring analysis. I helped them to identify parameters to measure even though the impedance response had issues. I also helped them identify and sample holders.

Problem:

Client and their contractors were having issues identifying the source of non-uniform oscillation in their ultrasonic transducer system.

Solution:

Within 1 day, I outlined a test for them and my client and their contractors executed it. They instantly found the problem and were extremely grateful! I love happy endings!

Problem:

Client was looking for equipment to characterize transducers.

Solution:

I knew the requirements of the client's transducer, and so I was able to recommend and successfully guide my client through usage of a $500 piece of test equipment and saved them from spending $40,000+ on another product.

Short Client Story

One of my clients wanted to optimize their transducer and achieve lower power consumption. Through our work, I created simulations of their transducer so we could identify existing problems. These issues could not have been detected through experimental testing alone.

I then optimized their transducer according to frequency, power consumption, and application specific constraints. The project manager is feeling exhilarated because of his confidence in the transducer!

And MOST importantly, now he is ONE giant step closer to evaluating challenges of scale and full system performance and usability. And who knows? There is another exciting project waiting for him after his work in this device is completed.

"We had to quickly scale up manufacturing"

Fundamentally, we really needed to understand the characteristics electrical and physical better. I don’t have a background in piezoelectronics or electrical engineering. Ultrasonic advisors has been a fantastic resource.

From a need standpoint, we had to quickly scale up into manufacturing, and we had already come up with a design. The process of characterizing out actuator really helped us to perfect its design and manufacturing process.

The services that you are offering really worked well for us because our manufacturing is scaling very rapidly. This means we have things that come up all of the time, and we really need to bounce deep questions off of you, and that experience has been really good.

"His work and advice saved us time, money, and helped us deliver our product to our customers with confidence"

"Our company is developing a medical device which uses ultra-high dielectric ceramic elements to create targeted electric fields to treat cancer. We were having limited success coming up with a material that could create the therapeutic field strength we needed without overheating. We tried several promising off-the-shelf formulations, but we could not get rid of over-heating.

Husain helped us quickly refine our approach by creating a comprehensive measurement and analysis methodology for testing candidate materials. He not only guided us on what we needed to prioritize, but he also took the time to point out to us what was not important in our application.

His expertise saved us significant time and money in our development. On top of this, he is quick to respond, personable and very easy to work with!"

"He understood the parasitic effect of frequencies in close approximation"

In regard to the technical side of work, and from my perspective, Husain has a deep understanding of piezo device theory. For example, he understood the parasitic effect of frequencies in close approximation, i.e. the influence of the ----- frequency on our target  drive frequency.

He is a self-starter when it comes to tackling tough technical challenges.
